Burlington carries men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, footwear, accessories, home goods, cosmetics, toys, gifts, and, of course, coats. The previous tenant was MIchael’s, the art supply store. The small space used to be The Mobile Shop, which did cell phone repairs.īurlington, a retail discount department store, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, is moving into the space at 808 Columbus Avenue (100th Street). (Thanks to Lese and Bob for the tips.)Ĭloud 9, a smoke shop selling CBD, kratom and vape cigarettes, has opened on Columbus Avenue between 70th and 71st Street. We have reports that a dentist will be moving into Paper House’s former location. The former occupant of 285 Amsterdam was Wild Daisy, a floral shop. In 2019 the WSR covered the way the shop’s landlord tried to find a new tenant at a higher rent, but, ultimately, stayed with Paper House. Paper House, the long-time stationery shop that sells “party and paper goods, seasonal decorations and costumes” will be moving on July 1st to 285 Amsterdam Avenue between 73rd and 74th Street, just a block away from its current location. The sign in the window says, “After years of being part of the Upper West Side community it is with a heavy heart that Reiss will be closing this location permanently.” Other Reiss stores can be found in Manhattan on Madison Avenue, Bloomingdale’s (59th Street and Soho), Bleecker Street, and West Broadway. Reiss, a London-based clothing company which sells “modern menswear, womenswear, accessories, and childrenswear that transcend time and trends,” according to the website, closed the Upper West Side store at 197-199 Columbus Avenue (69th Street).

Made in New York Pizza is currently at 421 Amsterdam Avenue at 80th Street (that location will remain open.) The pizza place sells a variety of pies including: white spinach, buffalo chicken, vodka, veggie, and gluten free pizza. The space was previously occupied by Joe’s Coffee. Made in New York Pizza is opening a second Upper West Side location in mid July at 271 Amsterdam Avenue between 72nd and 73rd Streets. Buttercup sells classic American desserts including various pies (such as apple crumb, coconut creme, and lemon meringue) and an assortment of cookies.
The bakery chain was founded by Jennifer Appel, who also co-founded Magnolia Bakery a few years earlier.
The home of the original Buttercup Bake Shop was right across the street at 141 West 72 Street. This will be the fifth location in Manhattan for the bakery, which also has two shops in midtown and two downtown. The space was formerly occupied by My Pie Pizzeria Romana. Buttercup Bake Shop, a bakery known for its buttercream cupcakes, will open in late August or early September at 166 West 72nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues.
